Morningstar Family

The Morningstar family is a large, prominent family of Jewish ancestry in San Luis Obispo. Having been in the area for several generations, they were rumored to be associated with Bugsy Siegel’s land operations in Las Vegas, reaping millions in their casino investments, a fortune that they translated into aggressive real estate transactions in the greater San Luis Obispo area. It is suggested that they own vast amounts of property in the whole county as well as in the eastern part of the state, promoting numerous residential neighborhood developments. At one point they owned and operated the amusement park, Cheap Thrills.
